Workability Bucks

1.  Strategic Planning of Specialist Service Provision in Bucks (For People with Disabilities Wishing to Work):

  • Continue the coordination of the services provided by the partner organisations.
  • Maintain accurate mapping of service provision and minimize duplication by addressing identified gaps in the service provision.
  • Share good practice.
  • Communicate and share knowledge and information regarding changes and developments in employment for adults with disabilities.
  • Seek funding.
  • Identify relevant statistical information to set benchmarks and measure improvement.
  • Identify and seek funding either for individual organisations or as a partnership.

2.  Engage with Employers:

  • Provide a forum for employers to meet and exchange good practice information.
  • Provide links to training/advice for organisations employing people with disabilities.
  • Increase the number of employers which the partnership is directly engaged with.

3.  Support For People with Disabilities Already in Paid Employment:

  • Increase and maintain direct support to people with disabilities in employment (and their employers).
  • Provide access to information, advice and training which is relevant to maintaining employment, to people with disabilities and employers.
  • Seek funding to assist in the retention of staff.

4.  Equitable Service Provision For People with Disabilities From All Minority Groups:

  • Investigate and engage with specialist support.
  • Investigate and engage with the existing forums for people with disabilities and employers from minority groups.

5.  Employment and Training Needs of Young People:

  • Identify young adults with disabilities wishing to access the labour market and/or employment skills training.
  • Develop clear pathway to employment for young adults with disabilities.
  • Coordinate service provision for young adults with disabilities.
  • Develop material/resources to promote employment in schools to raise the aspirations of young people.
  • Engage with parents of young adults with disabilities to widen future expectations for their children.

6.  More Voluntary Opportunities:

  • Retain strong links with excellent well established voluntary agencies in Buckinghamshire.
  • Recruit volunteers as mentors to support adults with disabilities whilst in employment.
  • Increase voluntary opportunities as a progression towards paid employment.
  • Promote and encourage the development of a “supported voluntary employment” service.

7.  Support For Carers of People with Disabilities in Employment:

  • Establish links with existing carers’ groups and actively engage with them.
  • Provide access to information and advice regarding employment for people with disabilities.
